EXPLORE THE CITY!

At only 5 minutes from the Central Station, Barrio Amsterdam is the perfect starting point for discovering the city’s highlights!

The major attractions are within walking distance.

ALL IN THE FAMILY...

From 1999 till the spring of 2018, the B&B gained immense popularity through their hosts Wimmo and Godwin, and later also Edson. With B&B Barangay they conquered the world of hospitality and set new  standards for small guesthouses. Since these guys fell in love with an outstanding house nearby, they asked Godwin’s sister Ruth with her husband to run the B&B. And so the story continues…

AMAZING AMSTERDAM

Conveniently located near the Central Station, our guesthouse is an oasis of peace and quietness in the middle of a buzzling city!

ABOUT THE GUESTHOUSE

Like Barangay, Barrio is a Spanish/Filipino word meaning small village or community. Our exotic decorated guest house is located in a typical Amsterdam canal house built in 1777 on the former coastline of Amsterdam. The house has still her original facade featuring a gable stone of an island with 3 palm trees.

We welcomed our first guests in August of 1999. We give each guest a warm welcome, a uniquely decorated room, your home away from home.

Our guests can enjoy our ‘world famous breakfasts in bed’ from 08.30 hours till 10.30 hours. If you want an early breakfast, we can serve a wonderful cold continental breakfast the night before.

Through the years, our B&B has been recognized with multiple Awards and we are humbled by hundreds of excellent guest reviews.

THE LOCATION

The B&B is located in the city center within the Unesco World Heritage Site. Definitely, one of the best areas to explore Amsterdam and beyond. Literally, most tourist attractions are just around the corner, within walking distance!

Our quiet street connects two major canals. The street behind us is the longest shopping street of Amsterdam. A section of which called Haarlemmerstraat/Dijk has been consistently voted as the best shopping street of Holland. This former sea dike now features good restaurants, cafes, specially / local shops and even a small art-deco cinema.

From Schiphol Airport it’s a 15 minute train ride to Amsterdam Central Station.

THE HOSTS

Since early summer of 2018, Ruth and Roelof jumped into the operation of the B&B. We thank the former owners, Wimmo and Godwin, for their immeasurable efforts in building one of the most rewarded and recognized guesthouses of the Dutch capital. Because the famous couple continue their success in the Herenstraat, 6 minutes away, we decided to change the name of Barangay in Barrio Amsterdam (Same, same, but different…). We cannot thank the boys enough for their achievements.  Because of our family ties – Ruth being the sister of Godwin – we are committed to prolongue the quality of the B&B services.

Like her little brother, Ruth was born in the Philippines but spend most years of her life alongside her husband Roelof, a down to earth ‘cheese head’, who courted her back in 1985. (Yes, time flies… feel free to ask about this romantic and unprecedented story…)

Again, thanks Godwin and Wimmo! Love you both…
